Kibawe Solar Project

The 50 MW Kibawe Solar Power Project represents our next major renewable energy investment in Mindanao. Situated in Kibawe, Bukidnon—a strategic location in Central Mindanao—the facility will utilize high-efficiency photovoltaic (PV) technology to feed clean power into the local transmission network.

As a project in the pre-development stage, current efforts center on technical studies, land security, grid interconnection assessments, and local stakeholder engagement to ensure the project reaches a “Ready-to-Build” status efficiently.

Key Project Challenges in the Planning Stage

Grid Interconnection & System Impact Study (SIS): Securing approval from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) through the completion of a System Impact Study to determine local grid capacity, prevent curtailment risks, and define necessary transmission line or substation upgrades.
Environmental & Ancestral Domain Compliance: Acquiring an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-EMB) and conducting Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) processes or obtaining a Certificate of Precondition/Non-Overlap from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) if ancestral domain lands are affected.
Commercial Off-Take Strategy & Financing: Structuring bankable power purchase agreements (PPAs)—whether participating in the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP), direct bilateral PPAs with electric cooperatives (e.g., FIBECO), or merchant market supply via the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) Mindanao.
